A BRIEF PROFILE ON CHARLES OKAFOR
Charles Izuchukwu Okafor hails from the South Eastern part of Nigeria. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree (2nd Class Upper) in Theatre Arts, of the University of Port-Harcourt River State, Nigeria, and a Master of Science Degree (M.Sc) in Political Science, with bias in International Relations, of the University of Lagos, Nigeria.
A Career Actor and Filmmaker, Mr. Okafor cut his "Corporate teeth” at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) – the Apex Regulatory Institution of the Nigerian Capital Market, where he served out the mandatory one-year National Youth Service Programme, and was retained as a Middle Management Staff. He proceeded to full time career practice, upon voluntarily leaving the SEC, after six years.
Mr. Okafor has acquitted himself, in mainstream National and International Advocacy and Feature filmmaking. A pioneer Nollywood star Actor, he brings refreshing insight, experience and professionalism to the Creative Art.
Having starred in over seventy flicks; Produced and Directed a handful of Films and Documentaries himself, Mr. Okafor, recently became the first African Filmmaker to execute an Advocacy film project, on the menace of Irregular Migration, in Bern, Capital of Switzerland, 2017.
Mr. Okafor has also exposed himself to a handful of capacity building platforms on the dynamic dialectics of Migration, and sundry Advocacy Roundtables. He, recently, was a participant, at the National Consultation on Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, Regular Migration (GCM) which held in Lagos, Nigeria, between 19-20 October, 2017.
Mr. Okafor, through his works, as filmmaker and Actor, passionately endeavours to ventilate his worldview for sub-regional renaissance, through the instrumentality of film. He evinces that, through Internal Growth Mechanisms, West Africa has the capacity of surmounting Irregular Migration, Hunger, Insecurity, Conflict, and skewed distribution of common West African Patrimonies.
Mr. Okafor works, and lives, in Lagos, Nigeria, with his family.
